I was born and raised in Guelph, leaving after 20 years to pursue my B.A. at Trent University and my B.Ed at Queens. After 15 years in Toronto I am excited to be bringing my massage practice home.
I graduated top of my class from ICT Kikkawa College in Toronto and am a member of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) and the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of Ontario (RMTAO). My schooling included the opportunity to work with patients with Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy and seniors living in long term care. My current clinical practice is varied including recreational athletes, desk jockeys and young aspiring athletes. I am equally skilled and happy to provide both therapeutic based massage treatments as well as relaxation massage. I have recently been studying a variation of Thai Massage modified to be done on a massage table and frequently mingle these techniques into my massage treatments.
I enjoy running and competing in triathlon and love being a part of helping people get back to the activities they love. As a competent knitter and quilter I am also aware of the aches and pains that can keep you from these and other similar endeavors. From my previous teaching experience, I am also effective at helping my clients understand their injuries and treatment, explaining concepts in easy to understand language and allowing clients to play a more active role in their recovery.
I have participated in numerous 5K, 10K and half marathon road races as well two Ironman races. I was recently thwarted by Hurricane Sandy from attempting my first marathon in New York City, but plan to return to the Big Apple in 2014. I feel fortunate that every day I get to help people feel better, live better and smile.
